Glad to see the support! And now to answer a few questions:
Would you have to update and patch the server?

No. Not at all. Whenever a new update comes out I will auto-update the server.

@ItsCliffNotes, no, you will not have to do anything. All you have to do is get on and play. You will have admin commands and other permissions, but unlike Minecraft, commands do not have to be given through a consul (if they are given at all!)
