    Hey, Tim! 😀

    I was trying to use your custom locale.xml with my client and I’m having some serious bugs.
    Idk if it’s the locale.xml or my client but I really think it’s the file.

    Screenshot (using French)

    Without these bugs fixed I really don’t want to release JALUP (my new game patcher) which will provide (amongst other things) a language selection.
    I really want people to play LU in their native language so I hope you can provide a working version of it.

    Sincerely
    Jonny

    Thanks for asking, Jonny.

    I started translating to Spanish by hand, but ended up figuring out how to use the Google Translate API to translate the rest of it. Then, I figured I might as well try to add some other languages. The only problem is, LU seems to have a different font file for each language (English, German, and Russian, although Russian translations were never added). So, except for Russian, I set the rest of the languages to the English font file, which seemed to cause some problems with the box/missing/error characters you’re seeing on the screen.

    If you open client\locale\locale.xml manually, like with Notepad++, you will see that all the characters are displaying correctly there. At the bottom of the file is all of the interesting stuff that I think would be the only way to mess with the fonts and stuff. My locale.xml has it looking something like this:

        <fonts count="7">
            <phrase id="FONTMAP_BOLD_NAME">

    Perhaps we could figure out if these are really the optimal settings for each language. I only had limited knowledge of what I was doing. Also, I don’t have access to the GTranslate API anymore but I don’t think we would need it to fix this, if it can be fixed. Maybe try switching the font to Times New Roman to see if anything changes?

    Hallo and thanks for the information, Tim!

    After some trial and error with the font libs and the available fonts I found out that the German font pack provides all the characters we need to display every language except for Russian properly using LU’s normal font. Russian requires to use New Times Roman though. But that’s nothing new I guess.

    All I need to implement now to have JALUP ready for its release is the possibility to run the client on macOS.

    Hope I’ll get to install a macOS VM on my computer within the next few days.
    Cuz then we’ll have a perfect patcher-client-combination.

    Sincerely
    Jonny

    Glad to hear that, Jonny!

    I had similar thinking when I set up the locale.xml but I don’t exactly understand what you did when you messed with the font libs. Could you explain what you changed in locale.xml or in the files in order to set everything up properly? That way I can update LU Translator for all the people that use it.

    Thanks, and I’m looking forward to JALUP 🙂

    There actually is a way for you to get the locale.xml I am using.
    Just do the following:

    Step 1: Use [WINDOWS] + [R].

    Step 2: Type “\\jalup.jonnyvps.de\” into the text field.

    Step 3: Click “OK”.

    Step 4: Log in with ANY username-password-combination.

    Step 5: Copy the locale.xml from the client files to your desktop.

    Hmm, it seems that I’m unable to connect to your server right now. That’s not a huge deal, though, but I’m assuming that you only had to change the locale.xml and not add or change the actual game fonts? (Because that’s the only thing that the LU Translator script will update). Maybe you could upload it to pastebin or something.

    Strange, still doesn’t seem to work. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. Anyway, don’t worry about it, there is no rush. Just wanted to see how you changed the locale fonts.
