Not trying to push anything at all. I acknowledge y’all have lives, and I’m thrilled with the progress that has been done… What I was wondering was “what’s next?” By the appearance of things some of you formed public servers and multiplayer is working… Is NPCs the next “big task” or what is? Not asking for dates or anything like that, just curious about general consent of the next target…
October 6, 2015 at 3:29 pm #1233XiphoseerModeratorJon002 and Jonny/SelfStyledMythran are working on NPC’s and a whole load of background systems, so you are correct in a very broad sense. We’re just at a point were we need to introduce data into the server that is not loaded or sent by the client, but must be queried from different files. This requires us to do a lot of groundwork and design decisions, before we can fully move on to NPC’s and then missions I guess. We would also like to have a roadmap, but at the moment nobody can really tell what to write in it. That’s why its a kind of unspoken consensus because it’s the base for most things down the line.
Thanks for including a statement that you acknoledge what has been done. As weird as it seems with the statement included, without it I might have removed the topic. And you only ask for the next/current thing which is completely fine as it just shows interest in development. If you would like to look at the code yourself, head over to UniverseServer on Github.
October 6, 2015 at 6:13 pm #1238TimtechKeymasterJon was working on some racing components from what I saw of his recent commit on github.
October 6, 2015 at 6:37 pm #1240VernerlParticipantInteresting.
October 6, 2015 at 11:09 pm #1258XiphoseerModeratorDon’t get to excited about that racing component, he did all components and just forgot something on implementing the docs. Racing is a minigame meaning it’ll require much more than the RM component I suppose.
October 7, 2015 at 2:11 am #1260VernerlParticipant…Oh. 🙁
October 14, 2015 at 4:37 pm #1431JJ7210-CheatahParticipantThanks Xiphoseer. Yes, from what I can gather, programming is like building with legoes… It’s one piece at a time and if you rush it, it doesn’t turn out. As for looking at the code, I’m sorry, but it’d be better that I don’t. I speak C++ as fluently as I speak Russian… Which is only small lines I got off of WWII based retro TV shows and documentaries… 😛 Maybe one day I’ll know how to program, but today is so not that day… 😛 (I can’t even get that stupid HOSTS file set up on my computer correctly… *facedesk*) I’m just thrilled to see the progress you guys and gals are making on LUNI. 🙂 (Would it help at all if I had the maps to some of these worlds, like crux prime? Because, I do… If ya would like them, just let me know where to send them…)
October 14, 2015 at 6:11 pm #1439TimtechKeymasterJJ, what are you referring to by maps?
October 15, 2015 at 6:52 pm #1484JJ7210-CheatahParticipantTimtech, I mean an aeral map of the area. Here, I’ll post a link for the Ninjago monastary description and map. http://web.archive.org/web/20110925022341/http://universe.lego.com/en-us/community/newsnetwork/story.aspx?id=352845
This is how I found out as much as I did about LU. Also, on the LU wiki there are a couple maps for places.October 16, 2015 at 5:11 am #1489XiphoseerModeratorIf you mean the one at the bottom, those maps are in the client files so we should have all of them.
October 18, 2015 at 3:09 pm #1525JJ7210-CheatahParticipantOK, thanks xiphoseer. Just trying to help any way I could. 🙂
November 7, 2015 at 9:16 am #2017JJ7210-CheatahParticipantOkay, so looking back… Now I’m curious… If the maps I had mentioned weren’t the maps you meant… What did you mean by maps?
November 7, 2015 at 7:47 pm #2031TimtechKeymasterThe level data for a world maybe? I was thinking about an aerial map though.
