Hey Guys,
I’m a Mod from LUR and I have one question: Why don’t we are working together (LUR-Ion-Dlu)?
I mean that brings the LEGO Universe faster back 🙂abril 17, 2016 a las 11:21 am #5400zizi2citromParticipanteIt would be great if you guys are working together!
abril 17, 2016 a las 11:50 am #5403GlassParticipanteThat would be cool but as we all know, DLU is possibly WAY ahead than any LUNI server out here, Jonny is working on his own source and software like Reborn. Ion right now dosent have active developers and is mostly a social server at the moment and is the only server right now open throughout the entire day. But yeah like I said that would definitely be cool 🙂
abril 17, 2016 a las 11:52 am #5404WickedGCParticipanteThey don’t work together because DLU is the only one of those that has actually done something.
abril 17, 2016 a las 12:04 pm #5407mater06ModeradorFirst of all, DLU is a closed source project and is not using the original LUNI source. I think even some of DLU’s own developers don’t have the source! (Though I may be wrong. DLU devs, correct me.) Also, for two different servers to work together, first they’d have to merge into one server. Which is a lot of work, (it’s even more work though to have two different servers and teams to work together.)
Plus, everyone on each team would have to agree with a decision.
If you can figure out a way for Ion and LUR to merge, by all means, do it. Just don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work.
abril 17, 2016 a las 12:46 pm #5408XiphoseerModeradorDLU works diffrently than LUNI/LUR/Ion/LUX/JLU, it’s not that trivial to merge those efforts. Furthermore, Ion & LUR are public servers not a new nodebase, I’ve yet to see some real progress in them. And I’m referring to progress under the hood, not making it look like it works. Prove me wrong though :P.
@mater06, all DLU devs have the source afaik, but it’s very few peopleCollaborating is a tricky thing. You can easily get into situations where too many chefs break the meal, and it has to do a lot with trust and experience. Neither LUR nor Ion have their codebase public afaik, which would be essential if we wanted to form one central effort. It’s difficult to judge how capable a person is if you havn’t seen their work (not the resulting server).
Darwin has made it clear several times, that DLU will remain as closed up as it is right now. As for the others, I’d like to see some of the developers work out there, then we’ll see.

abril 17, 2016 a las 1:24 pm #5409HappyAngryCatfishCommunity HelperSimply and rudely put Darwin and DLU don’t want to work with you. Ion doesn’t even have developers. And also a quote from humanoid because why not
«More people doing something on the same thing does not automatically result in faster progress, especially if those people have next to no experience but “want to contribute something anyway” (in which case it ends up having the exact opposite effect).
We don’t want to give the impression that we are “elitists” but we prefer to keep the organization of our project in a controllable manner so sharing the source with other people is not an option for us at the current point in time.»abril 17, 2016 a las 2:57 pm #5415AnónimoInactivoThere are many reasons why Team Work/Merge Won’t Happen
1) LUNI is Dead (not long until the website dies too)
2) DLU is a CLOSED SOURCE Project and doesn’t want their files put up online.
3) Ion/LUR Aren’t really projects that develop LU just servers.
4) If they do merge, there will be a massive argument due to many things. So just if you are asking if they will merge. Short Answer: No
abril 17, 2016 a las 3:06 pm #5416TimtechSuperadministradorThe Ion source is on GitHub here – https://github.com/LegoUniverseIon/UniverseServer
abril 17, 2016 a las 3:12 pm #5417XiphoseerModeradorThat Github Tim linked is not much more than a joke right now. The only original commit does not interact with the rest of the server, meaning it is worthless.
abril 17, 2016 a las 3:53 pm #5420– dumbtube –ParticipanteMore people does not equal more progress. I don’t know why so many people are responding to this. Someone pls close this topic
😛
