Okay everyone, I have been thinking. And thinking. And pondering.
Trying to figure out what to do next. Well, I have an idea that possibly would work…We all know you guys had fun on our Public Servers. Heck there are like 10 people on Jonny’s right now, and a few more on ours as well. However…
Have you ever dreamed of hosting your own server?
To be able to be an admin, to control everything that goes on? Without having to worry about costs? Well I may be able to fix that. I have said in the past I own a massive hosting plan. It is true 😛
So here is my idea: Micro hosting for LUNI.
If anyone plays Minecraft or Minecraft PE (I know I know) then you know just how many people enjoy Micro Hosting from companies such as LEET and I believe for a short time even Bukit hosted a Micro Server Group.
So why can that not work for LUNI?
I could host YOUR OWN SERVER for you!
Please note, this will not be free. However I can promise my rates can be more than affordable… I could offer… $5 USD per month of hosting? That sounds reasonable, but that may change. And no, this is not a money making scheme. Hosting my server is not cheap, but I enjoy doing it anyways. This is also Legal, as this is not «Pay to Play» but «Pay to Host», so you would merely be paying for a hosting provider. However $5 per month for unlimited player slots and RAM, + not having to worry about setup is (in my opinion) a great deal. But of course I am not here to say what you think.
Tell me what you believe in the comments below. Also, I could offer free trials to show you exactly what you would be buying.
This would take me about… A month? Maybe less, maybe more. I would need to setup a set hosting system slightly stronger than my own (for multiple servers).
Also, like LEET, we would all share the same database, so no need for re-registering.
This is only an idea, NOT 100% SURE.
But if enough of you like it, I think I could do it. The profits of this would only go to hosting your server, not the LUNI Devs or this site.Think it over, CDFalcon.

octubre 15, 2015 a las 10:36 am #1455HappyAngryCatfishCommunity HelperWhy do we spend so much time on the topic of hosting when the server still lacks basically anything to do? I don’t mean to sound ungrateful by any means but really hosting shouldn’t really be that big of a topic due to the fact it’s still basically a world explorerer.
octubre 15, 2015 a las 10:53 am #1456CDFalconParticipanteTrue. Point taken. however this will grow as the server grows. Remember that.
octubre 15, 2015 a las 11:44 am #1458ItsCliffNotesParticipanteU can do a lot like the original most of tthe servers are connected so u could try to stream it all together and have a main place where u can pick your server and u have have people there and get volunteers to look over and set conductors and monitor over chat and stuff
octubre 15, 2015 a las 11:46 am #1459ItsCliffNotesParticipanteU can also show rules and punishments in chat and who is look over and who u can ask for help
octubre 15, 2015 a las 11:50 am #1460ItsCliffNotesParticipanteU could do like WOW and just have a bunch of realms where u can do anything and have npcs with came and just have someone watching or something
octubre 15, 2015 a las 1:01 pm #1464SaporousFuture4ParticipanteLove this idea one question would you be updating it or would we have to?
octubre 15, 2015 a las 1:04 pm #1466ItsCliffNotesParticipanteIs it like battle.net where we have to update it or do patches just download when we good it up like steam or do they download when we are off by its self
octubre 15, 2015 a las 1:51 pm #1469CDFalconParticipanteGlad to see the support! And now to answer a few questions:
Would you have to update and patch the server? No. Not at all. Whenever a new update comes out I will auto-update the server.
@ItsCliffNotes, no, you will not have to do anything. All you have to do is get on and play. You will have admin commands and other permissions, but unlike Minecraft, commands do not have to be given through a consul (if they are given at all!)Hope this clears somethings up 🙂

octubre 15, 2015 a las 2:01 pm #1474TimtechSuperadministradorMicro hosting is great for games like Minecraft, but for LU I think the aim is to have one main server so stats and characters and accounts don’t have to be different for every server.
Still a good idea, I like the sound of it 🙂 keep up the good work
octubre 15, 2015 a las 2:20 pm #1475SaporousFuture4ParticipanteAlright i’d pay 10 dollars a month thats pretty cheap and i’ve always wanted to be an admin of something.
octubre 15, 2015 a las 4:03 pm #1478BuggotParticipanteDon’t like it at all. Should be focusing on actually getting more people first. This situation happens a lot with growing games, there’s some type of «create your own, invite your friends» kind of thing, then the whole game declines because the people are so scattered across tiny servers. Idea is okay but too soon right now. Get functionality in, or at least hold this to one side until the community is stable and growing at a larger rate. Also, people would probably make their own servers instead of paying to host one. Not too difficult.
octubre 15, 2015 a las 4:25 pm #1479KnightoffaithModeradorThere’s one rather important oversight: UGC. Either the microserver admin doesn’t get to control UGC (forum posts, user creations, custom names, etc.), that needs to be split into separate databases, database columns need to be added for which server the data applies to, or everything runs on a separate DB (lough accounts would still need to be separate, in order for mods/admins to be selected based on server). This is something where the DB infrastructure could be built to allow this, but at the moment, it isn’t.
octubre 15, 2015 a las 4:57 pm #1480CDFalconParticipanteJust saw Knight and Tim’s posts.
To Tim: If you register for one server it transfers all data to each other server (main advantage of one Database)
To Knight: Yes. This is my «big mountain». As for forums, no, no CMS’s will be hosted, just the normal site. But yes, your points are my biggest problems, however I do believe they can be fixed. I am considering, as you said, multiple columns, and other things
I am glad to see so much feedback! Keep it coming, I really want all pros and cons on the table before i commit to this 🙂

Okay point 1 is we will be divided over small servers. Roughly one out of every 100 people on this project( by some calculations I made on skype) will create a server. Do that math. The odds of us being divided are ridiculously slim…
2: people will host their own servers… So why aren’t they? And are you trying to tell me that hosting a server is nice, easy, and free??? Because it really isn’t. Why do you think I am doing this? It is for people to not have to go through the trouble of creating AND hosting their own servers…
