First of all, please don’t get angry (moderators/Timtech) at me for asking about this. I know that nobody likes people who constantly ask frequently asked questions but to be honest, I feel I bit in the dark. Now, I’m pretty sure I know what’s going on, but I need some clarification. From my understanding, the «LUNI» project is dead, over, has ground to a halt, because the developers have ditched the project due to «public harassment» to work on other projects of their own which, from what I’ve gathered, is the «DLU» project. The only difference between DLU and the late LUNI is that the former is closed-source, and generally more private. The goal is the same, however. If this is the case, and this project that I’m now writing about on its forums is dead, can we have some official statement? Again, I am aware that certain moderators have said things, or else I wouldn’t know what I already do, but it all seems a bit «as a matter of fact». By that I mean the whole «this project is dead» just seems like something that has been shrugged off, but shouldn’t everyone know? I went on one of the public servers yesterday and some of the players weren’t aware of this project being inactive, and still talked about how it would update. What I’m trying to get at is that everyone needs to know, and so there should be a message from Timtech or whoever to tell everyone of the current state of LUNI, on the homepage or the download page perhaps. I am also confused (bare with me) as to what the goal of LUNI was. When I logged onto one of the public servers I was told, after bringing it up, that it wasn’t «LUNI», but «a server that Jonny made». Isn’t it both? I thought that LUNI was a project that everyone contributed to, and the admins of the servers used this code to make servers? Wasn’t that the point of LUNI? Apparently not, so I find myself asking you what the goal of it all was. Was it the same as what the goal of the devs working on DLU is? Or is it something else entirely, than I’ve missed the point of somehow. Some clarification on this, and some sort of official statement to tell the players what’s going on would help, and I hope I haven’t wasted my time writing this.
Thanks!

But it is an open source project who knows when someone may discover it and start working on it if they so desire. This doesn’t happen often but that’s how we’ve gained developers in the past. Now as for Jonny’s server. He’s not developing for the server in a manner of speaking. He is just developing his LUNI Server. Though I’m not sure if it’s actually called LUNI. He may rename it. But his server is based off LUNI. Simply put he is just developing for his server and his work won’t be uploaded to here.
diciembre 13, 2015 a las 11:14 pm #2585XiphoseerModeradorAdding to HAC here, Timtech wants luniserver to stay a commmunity, waiting for a server advertising that such projects exist. This is likely why it’s not pronounced dead officially. No LUNI development has ever really used luniserver.com.
diciembre 14, 2015 a las 8:38 pm #2595TimtechSuperadministradorYes, luniserver.com is really just the community from my other site timtechsoftware.com, made to look more official. There has never been constant development; in fact, there were many months where nothing new was developed on the server. But it’s nice to help people with LU and see what other things people make.
