I signed.
The petition is a great idea. Maybe we could ask LEGO to dig up the old files of LU. And if we not succeed, at least we tired. We can’t lose anything. Then the only thing we could do is continue LUNI. (I signed the petition)
We can all universally agree building was one of the best parts, right? I am sure you guys are familiar with this, but LEGO invested tons of money into hiring quality staff to moderate builds. One of the big demises of the game that was fairly recently revealed is that they wanted a semi-automated/automated moderation system, but they couldn’t get it working to their needs. Hence why building isn’t in Chima Online or Minifigures Online, they don’t want to risk it, not only in budget, but in protection of their brand.
So, unless they made a breakthrough, I doubt they would revive LEGO Universe when they still haven’t figured automated moderation out. Also LEGO Worlds is pretty much LEGO’s way of giving players the building system they desire, and additionally, they are working on multiplayer for it too. Why make a LEGO building MMO when you already have one of the core aspects of LEGO Universe, building and sharing creations with friends in a virtual environment, in a game that doesn’t require us to pay for a bunch of servers and moderators?
The next best thing we can hope for is them releasing the official server files, I imagine.
I agree with Frosty. It is unlikely for them to reopen LU. It would be best if we opened up a petition not for them to reopen LU but to release the original server files. As said many times before, there is nothing to lose if we do this and we would only be asking for their server files. Of course there is a chance that it will not work but it would still be beneficial to ask or make a petition just for the server files and hopefully return LU to it’s former glory.
