The primary reason as to why the player cap is so low is simply due to the fact that the server would lag out or crash with far too many players. Servers run off of the Internet connection the Administrator is running (If the Administrator is running the server on his computer). This is not like an old Lego Universe server that was stored in their own spot with its own internet connection. If too many players join such a server as DLU will be during its beta, the server will ultimately lag out or connection would be very bad. Sorry if I began to repeat myself I tend to do that quite a bit :/. Either way I hope this somewhat explains that reason.
